My most meaningful place on campus is the library. The college experience is much more than just academic work, but when it's crunch time on an assignment, the library always helps me calm down, block out distractions, and focus in on the task ahead of me.
My favorite class at Albion was my First Year Experience class that I took in the fall of my first year. The class was called "The Elements" and it was all about the history of the periodic table. I wasn't sure how I would do in the class because I'm not very proficient in chemistry, but I was very surprised about how fun it was. Everyone in the class was very close and our professor was fantastic. It was a great first impression about what Albion had to offer.
Doing something that has a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Helping others doesn't need to take the form of a grand gesture or a monumental accomplishment. To me, helping others can be as simple as giving a hug to someone who is having a bad day.
I chose Albion because I wanted a smaller school with a close-knit community. I had looked at similar schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota, but I wanted to go down a unique path. I went from everyone on campus being a total stranger to forming meaningful relationships with fellow students and professors.
